HARRISBURG, Pa. – A police standoff that began when a Harrisburg man allegedly assaulted his girlfriend ended peacefully. Harrisburg police responded at about 11:30 pm Tuesday to a residence along the 600 block of N. 18th Street for a report of a domestic assault.
Juan Navarro, 29, came out of the home armed with a shotgun. He “racked” in a round and then went back inside. Police immediately surrounded the home and called in the Dauphin County Crisis Response Team to assist.
Navarro’s father and three children ages, 9, 8 and 3 were safely removed from the building. Shortly after 4 a.m. the CRT team made entry into the residence and found Navarro hiding in the basement. Two shotguns and a handgun were recovered.
Narvarro’s girlfriend suffered two lacerations to the face during the fight between the two. He is charged with Aggravated Assault.
