LANCASTER, Pa. — A Lancaster woman who beat her 10-year-old daughter with a belt was sentenced to six months on house-arrest, according to the Lancaster County District Attorney’s office.
Quottysha Thomas, 35, plead guilty to assault and child endangerment charges in Lancaster County court on Oct. 15. Thomas must also spend three months on electronic-monitor supervision, followed by 14 months of parole, then eight years of probation.
The abuse came to light in January 2015 when staff at her daughters school noticed bruising and swelling. The girl told police that her mother hit her about 15 times with a belt. Thomas later admitted to the abuse, prosecutors said.
As part of sentencing, Thomas is permitted to keep custody of her child on condition she complies with parenting classes and other directives from Children and Youth Services.
